Cool new show from Starz.
Kelsey Grammer plays Tom Kane, the nasty mayor of Chicago, dealing with a terminal brain condition in the run-up to the Illinois state election. Lots of very deliberate atmosphere, a very dull shades-of-grey world that works nicely as the backdrop for a glib political story. Kane fits nicely into the recent trend of the mean central figure, but unlike the twisted leads of say, Dexter or Breaking Bad, he is (so far) a mostly sympathetic bad guy, juggling the pressures of a debilitating illness, estrangement from his wife and daughter, and the political game.
Highly recommended so far.
