Enlightened 01x02 Enlightened seems to be hitting on something even if I’m not quite sure what that something is. Is this a show about the futility of idealism in corporate America? A stab at those change-the-world types? Are we supposed to sympathise with Amy or is she the punchline? Deep down it seems to be about how to cope with life in 2011. Maybe. But whatever is happening here, it is very enjoyable. L.A is presented wonderfully as a smattering of sunny geometrics and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park! Never forget!) is doing a fantastic job at making Amy interesting with an unhinged edge. Good to have Luke Wilson playing Luke Wilson too, as that dude has been absent from anything good for a while. I’m interested to see what direction this series is going to take as it has the potential to be something special.
