The League 03x04 - ‘Ol’ Smoke Crotch’ The League veered slightly back into wacky territory again this week, which is a tad disappointing given last week’s solid episode. This show is obviously pretty focused on gross-out humour, which quite often borders on tasteless, but this episode ramps it up, with plenty of jokes concerning dicks, urination, pubic hair, threesomes, a child eating ice cubes out of a urinal, taking a dump, masturbation, and yes, rape. The primary plot this week surrounds Kevin’s horror at discovering a grey pubic hair on his pee-bib (an invention of Taco’s which is basically a small napkin you attach to your pants while to stop pee dripping down onto your pants). I was a little ambivalent over this whole thing. Is having a grey pube really that big a deal, when you’re married, have a child, and are presumably in your 30s? I couldn’t really buy into the whole thing, especially with the amount of grief that the rest of the guys dish out. Also, Kevin’s crotch catching fire was definitely in that wacky category again, and I get that it also links in with the guys calling him ‘smoke crotch’ as well as ‘fire crotch’, with his slightly reddish hair, but yeah, it all felt like a bit of a miss to me. Nonetheless, Rafi returned again this week, with excellent results again. Pete’s sex-interest, Ruxin’s au pair from last week, wants to try a ‘Golden Gate’ (I’m sure you can work out what that is from the above image), resulting in Raffi joining them in bed. Rafi is brought into this episode by his bro-lo, Ruxin, in order to force the au pair to quit. The scenes involving Ruxin and Rafi are invariably hilarious, so it was great to see some more this week (‘He’s a convicted felon’; ‘Ha ha, twice!’). Anyway, much in the way that this review is pretty scattered, ‘Ol’ Fire Crotch’ was a pretty scattered episode, with a few parts that didn’t quite stick. Still thoroughly entertaining, if only for EVERY scene with Rafi. ‘Can you just say the word “yes”, just say it out loud’; ‘Yes’; ‘Consent. You heard it, you’re a lawyer.’ ‘Yeah, I’m gonna court martial her… vagina… with a wiener.’ ‘Come sit on my lap, we can double drop a deuce like we did in college’
